Welcome to the virtual home of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Sharpsburg, Maryland. We are an active, loving and growing community of people bound together by God's grace and a desire to follow Jesus Christ. We are named for Saint Paul, whose life was transformed by hearing God's word, and was used by God to spread the good news about His Son. We believe that God continues to transform people's lives, and that we are sent out by him each week to work for good in the world.
We gather together each week to celebrate what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. We pray and sing together, hear the Holy Scriptures and share in Holy Communion. Through times of Bible study and Christian education we learn about what God has done in the past and how He calls us to live today. We also work together to serve our neighbors in God's Name. These include neighbors both in our own historic village and around the world. Saint Paul's is marked by a welcoming and tolerant spirit. We are a group of people from different backgrounds and of many opinions, bound together in love of God and care for each other.
Saint Paul's is one of the 118 churches of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, a group of churches that traces its history to the Church of England. Anglican Christianity is marked by its reverence for Holy Scripture, the Tradition of the universal Church and the insights of human reason. Our beliefs are summarized by the historic Creeds of the Church, and our worship is based on the Book of Common Prayer, Anglicanism's rich and beautiful liturgy. Ours is ancient faith, but one which seeks to engage the questions and challenges of modern life.
We invite you to join us for worship on Sundays at 10:00 or for one of many different programs. Come and join us as we follow Christ together in hope, joy, and love.
In Christ,
